“ A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF THE NAME”

Kinnoto “pronounced” Kin-no-toe means Gold City in Japanese, Gympie was known as The Gold City in the Gold Rush Days 1867-1868, hence the name “ Kinnoto”

“ ABOUT US “

WE ARE NOT AN OFFICIAL OR AFFILIATED CLUB.

We are a group of Bonsai enthusiasts, from learners to experienced, who get together the last Saturday of each month, to share our knowledge and learn from others, on the subject of Bonsai. We are privileged and thankful to have been given the opportunity to use the facility at Golden City Brick & Landscape, and we are extremely grateful to the manager, Phil Sparks and his staff for this . Phil has OPENED the opportunity for BONSAI enthusiasts in our district, to shop locally, by putting into his stock Bonsai Supplies ( Bonsai Pots-Tools-Accessories and Plants suitable to Bonsai ) both for our group, as well as the general public to purchase, so lets all give him some support to make this work " Both he and we Bonsais-ts will benefit.

We will occasionally conduct hands on workshops and have regular discussions on our individual Bonsai experiences, we can all learn something from each other and we don't have any special rules that have to be followed in regards to how we create our own individual Bonsai. This group is all about "freedom of choice" within BONSAI.... YOU choose the way in which you wish to style your BONSAI, whether you want to follow the Japanese Traditional Rules, or just do your own thing, and there should not be any Personal COMPETITION between members as far as their Bonsai goes....so don't be afraid to bring along your favorite Bonsai Plant to our group get together we are not here to criticize... WE ARE HERE TO LEARN.

BONSAI is not hard to learn and can be very beneficial for Mind and Body and Spirit.

SO...COME ON PEOPLE..... YOU WILL NEVER NEVER KNOW IF YOU DON'T GIVE IT A GO.

If you want further information phone James on 0409265251 or send a TXT Msg. or Email

MEETINGS START AT 10:00 AM ............FINISH AT 1:00 PM …The Last Saturday of each month

AGENDA

We are fortunate to have a guest speaker at this next meeting, he has had extensive experience with the "Growing On" method for Bonsai, and will share his knowledge with us, on this subject, In ground and box growing, styling and maintenance, getting those nice fat trunks and stabilizing roots and so forth. We also will be doing the next stage of our Bonsai Progression Plant and much more. If you have a plant that you need to style and quite can't make up your mind on which way to go with it, bring it along, and our guest speaker will try and give you some guidance on styling. DONT FORGET Sat 31 st 10 am to 1 pm, see you all there.

CONCLUDED

G'day all, well Saturday July 31 st went off very well indeed, Jamie's demo and lecture was a great hit with all members whom attended, and we all learn't something new, most of us couldn't get home fast enough to put some of the new ideas into place on our own trees. We also had a visit from Taffy from Maryborough, whom has kindly volunteered to come down to our next meeting on Sat. 28 th August, and do a demo and lecture on Air Layering and Thread Grafting, thread grafting is where you place either a branch or even a new root in position where either one is needed or has died, to enhance the trees appearance to the selected style of the tree. I would like to sum up by saying a very big thanks to Jamie for his time and excellent demo, and am looking forward to August's meeting with Taffy as our guest demonstrator and we hope to see you all there.
